Network Approach and Di erential { Algebraic Systems inTechnical

چکیده
In technological computer aided design (TCAD), advanced pre-processors generate the mathematical models automatically. Network approaches enable the handling of complex applications with several thousand or more equations. Since most network descriptions rely on redundant coordinates, the corresponding models lead to descriptor forms or diierential-algebraic equations. Such coupled systems of ordinary diierential and nonlinear constraint equations present speciic numerical and analytical diiculties which are characterized by the index. Studying typical examples from electric circuit simulation, multi-body system dynamics, charge cycle of combustine engines and chemical process simulation, we introduce the underlying network approach and classify arising models in terms of the index and structural properties. Hints on available commercial and public domain software packages and some performance studies are included in the presentation.

TECHNISCHE UNIVERSITÄT BERLIN Analysis and Reformulation of Linear Delay Di erential-Algebraic Equations
In this paper, we study general linear systems of delay di erential-algebraic equations (DDAEs) of arbitrary order. We show that under some consistency conditions, every linear high-order DAE can be reformulated as an underlying high-order ordinary di erential equation (ODE) and that every linear DDAE with single delay can be reformulated as a high-order delay di erential equation (DDE). We der...
متن کاملDiierential Elimination-completion Algorithms for Dae and Pdae
dae and pdae are systems of ordinary and partial di erential-algebraic equations with constraints. They occur frequently in applications such as constrained multibody mechanics, space-craft control and incompressible uid dynamics. A dae has di erential index r if a minimum of r+1 di erentiations of it are required before no new constraints are obtained. While dae of low di erential index (0 or ...

This paper presents a new method for solving di erential algebraic equation systems using a mixed symbolic and numeric approach Discretization formu lae representing the numerical integration algorithm are symbolically inserted into the di erential algebraic equation model The symbolic formulae manipulation algorithm of the model translator treats these additio nal equations in the same way as ...
متن کاملRational Heuristics for Rational Solutions of Riccati Equations
We describe some new algorithm and heuristics for computing the polynomial and rational solutions of bounded degree of a class of ordinary di erential equations, which includes generalized Riccati equations. As a consequence, our methods can be used for factoring linear ordinary di erential equations. Since they generate systems of algebraic equations in at most n unknowns, where n is the order...
متن کاملDifferential Algebraic Systems Anew
Linear di erential algebraic equations with properly stated leading term are considered via a decoupling into their essential parts. It is shown why for so-called numerically well formulated equations the decoupling and discretizations commute in some sense. In general one cannot expect this commutativity so that additional diÆculties like strong stepsize restrictions may arise. Moreover, abstr...
